Frequently Asked Questions

Planning your escape to Hill Crest Farm? We’ve gathered the most common questions from our guests to help you prepare for your 4-Star Gold experience. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, our team is only a message away.

What are the Check-in and Check-out times?

Check-in is between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Check-out is by 10:00 AM. Early arrivals (1:30 PM) or late check-outs (Noon or 8:00 PM) can be arranged for a fee, subject to availability. Please contact us in advance to add this to your booking.

We are located at Hill Crest Farm, Barnby Moor, DN22 8QS. Some Sat-Nav systems stop slightly short of our entrance; please look for our 4-Star Gold signage on the roadside.

We hold a £100 security deposit at the time of booking/check-in. This is released 1–2 days after check-out, provided there are no losses or damages to the property.

While our yurts sleep up to 5 or 6 guests, our base rate covers 2 adults. We charge an additional £15 per night for each extra adult. Please let us know your specific bed arrangements or if you require a travel cot/high chair before arrival.

What exactly is provided in the yurt?

We provide a “hotel-standard” setup: Super-king beds with linens, a fully equipped kitchen (sink, fridge/icebox, air-fryer, microwave, toaster, kettle), all cutlery/crockery, a private wet-room/bathroom, electricity, an electric heater, and a hairdryer.

Please bring towels for the hot tub (unless you choose to hire them on-site), personal toiletries, food, and a torch or headtorch for navigating the site after dark.

We ask that you leave the yurt as you found it. A quick sweep and surface wipe is sufficient. Please empty your rubbish bins (separating glass) and clear firepit/hot tub grates into the designated metal bins. A £25 cleaning fee applies to accommodation left in an unsatisfactory state.

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside the yurts and on the wooden decking. Evidence of smoking will result in the loss of your security deposit.

To support our renewable agenda, we only change bedding or clean the yurt for stays of a week or longer, upon request.

How do the hot tubs work?

Our Deluxe Yurts feature traditional Scandinavian wood-fired tubs, while Superior Yurts feature Jacuzzi-style tubs. Your first bag of logs is included. Extra hot tub water or chemical changes are charged at £25.

Each yurt has a firepit with a swing griddle for BBQing. We also have a communal wood-fired pizza oven at The Hub. Please place any disposable BBQs inside the firepit to protect the decking.

Each yurt has its own storage unit with seasoned logs, kindling, and firelighters. We check the stock and charge for what you have used after your departure.

We ask for ‘Quiet Time’ from 9:00 PM. Music should be kept low before then and turned off entirely after 9:00 PM to respect other guests and our neighbours. (Note: These rules are flexible for exclusive full-site bookings).

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed strictly in our designated dog-friendly accommodation only. No other pets are permitted on site.

The village of Barnby Moor does not have a shop, but the market town of Retford is just 3 miles away. However, we have three fantastic restaurants within a 2-minute walk, and we are a licensed premises for alcohol.

Please check the provided inventory upon arrival. If anything is broken or damaged during your stay, notify us immediately so we can replace it. We reserve the right to charge the booking card for missing or damaged items.
